At To Do Done, we specialize in interior renovations, mostly because we live in the Ottawa/Gatineau region and winters are long and snowy, so outdoor work is hard to fit in with all of the demands we have for interior renovations. But, when given the chance, we love to celebrate our team’s versatility and skills by putting them onto decks, outdoor staircases, docks and other features. At our Kingsmere Cottage project, we were able to do just that.
We created a solid wrap around deck with glass railings surrounding the first floor with 2 separate sliding glass doors opening up onto it. We also built another small balcony off of the master bedroom to catch glimpses of the lake through the trees. We needed a special permit from the municipality to replace a rickety and dangerous existing stairway that led to the lake. We did just that with a sturdy foundation under a new and safe staircase down the hill. We also replaced the old sinking dock with a renewed dock on the lake, so that the new owners could really enjoy the beautiful waterfront.
And, to truly enjoy this cottage in the woods in all seasons, we installed a custom spa room with an indoor hot tub, sauna and shower. Perfect for returning after a long ski in the Gatineau Park!
